Meet Mrs. Verkamp

Mrs. Verkamp changed her position for this school year, again!  She's back in the classroom, this time teaching some awesome 5th graders United States History!!  How fun is that?

She went to school at Indiana University (Bloomington) for a Bachelor's Degree in business. After staying home for many years with her sons, she decided she really wanted to work in a school when she "grew" up so she went back to school. She has a Master's Degree in Teaching from Oakland City University. She also has a minor in library from Indiana State University.

She loves to read (even without being a reading teacher/librarian), knit, hike, shop, play games (especially Scrabble-(she really likes words!)),kayak, travel (!), and spend time visiting and talking with her family and friends. She really loves technology!

She is married and lives in the Kyana area. Her oldest son graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with degrees in Computer Science and Math, received his Masters' in Computer Science from Indiana University, and works for an educational company as a Computer Security Engineer.  He married the love of his life in 2013, and have since graced us with two grandchildren!   "Grandma" is an exceptional new title!  Her youngest son graduated from Rose-Hulman with degrees in Physics and Chemistry, and is officially enrolled in the graduate program at the University of Illinois (He really loves school!!).  He is working on creating his lab for his experiments and has about another year and he can be called Dr. Verkamp, having earned his PhD! He recently asked the love of his life to marry him, and she said yes!!  We are excited to have her join our family this winter.  Her exchange "student/son" from Italy works in his family's paint store/business.  She got to visit him this past summer and it was great to "see" him again!

If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please email Mrs. Verkamp or phone Cedar Crest!
