My Teaching Career

Currently, I teach fifth-grade reading, language arts, and technology. It is hard for me to say which subject is my favorite because I like all of the subjects that I teach. My favorite type of writing is journaling and personal narratives, but my favorite genre of reading is historical fiction. I also love to use technology. Some of my favorite apps and websites are Book Creator, Words with Friends, Pinterest, Newsela, iCivics, and noRedInk.

My teaching career began at St. Anthony Elementary where I taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I also taught music and art one year. After six years at St. Anthony Elementary, I moved to Ferdinand Elementary where I taught fifth grade for two years until Cedar Crest Intermediate opened in 2006. I have been teaching here ever since then.

My Education

My education began at Loogootee Elementary,  and I graduated from Loogootee High School. I continued my education at the University of Southern Indiana where I earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education. I am proud to say that I am a life-long learner, and I continue my education as a teacher by reading and attending training seminars and conferences.

Family & Home

My husband's name is Mike, and I have three children named Collin, Corbin, and Olivia.  We live in Ferdinand where we enjoy riding bikes and walking for exercise. We also enjoy visiting state and national parks to go hiking. I also love to read and tend to my flowers.
