Final Record 21-6

The varsity softball team were sectional champions in just the third year for the softball program at FP. Sophomore pitcher Jayme Knies threw a no-hitter in the sectional championship game against Shoals. The girls were 21-6, racking up the most wins in the team's short history. The Rangers were undefeated in the Blue Chip Conference and were BCC champions. They ended their season by losing in the regional tournament final to Tecumseh. Coach Greg Durcholz said, "It was a very enjoyable season. We worked hard and had a lot of fun."

Coach Greg Durcholz states “The 2000 softball season was only the third one for the program.  So we were still learning, but because the first two seasons were successful, expectations were high.

We also had some talented players returning for the 2000 season.  It was a good mix of experienced players and exciting young players also.

Things didn’t always go smoothly that season, we had some ups and downs, but I was proud of how the girls played at the end of the year.  We finished the season strong. That’s what I’ll always remember about that team, that we pulled it together when we had to.”

The team drew the bye in sectional and played a very good Springs Valley team in the semi-finals.  In one of their best games, they won 12-0 in 5 innings behind a 2-hitter by Jayme Luebbehusen.  They went on to win the championship vs. Shoals 12-0 behind a no-hitter by Jayme Knies. The next week they played Rising Sun in the regional semi-final.  They had an excellent pitcher, but the girls prevailed 3-0.  The girls lost that night to Tecumseh 3-0 in the regional final.
