2020 Boys Soccer Sectional Championship
“2020 was a difficult season to say the least. From the start, we lost athletes for extended periods of time due to Covid close-contact measures. And the Friday before our tournament started (we were to play on Monday), we lost 5 players (4 starters) due to close-contact. I will note none of the athletes sent home dealt with any symptoms. Back to the tournament....this required a handful of boys to step up and fill important roles. Freshman and sophomores that didn't play much throughout the course of the regular season played almost complete games. We ended up winning our first sectional title after beating Northeast Dubois in penalty kicks in the semi finals and South Spencer in the Championship game. South Spencer had beaten us fairly easily in the season 3-1. One highlight to promote would be Spenser Wolf recording a game-tying goal with time expiring against Northeast Dubois. Conner Knies played him a ball through the back line of defense. Spenser ran on to it and chipped the goalkeeper while being dragged down from behind. That's a play I'll never forget and a week I'll cherish always. This was our first sectional title in about 7 years.” Head Coach Mike Foerster.
