Coach Interview

We asked the assistent coach of the team a few questions about this team, the season, and the 1993 game.

We asked Tom Beach who were his best player and he replied that all of his players were good they all worked very hard.

Tom Beach said the most memorable moment of the season was the sectional's opening game, where Forest Park played Jasper. It was voted as "The best game ever played at Huntingburg Memorial Gymnasium." That was a very good season with a good bunch of boys. The Tuesday night game of the sectional was voted the "Best Game Ever" in the first 50 years of Huntingburg Memorial Gym. Jasper had Scott Rolen, who went on to play major league baseball and Michael Lewis who played basketball at Indiana University and is now an assistant coach at Butler University. Forest Park was ahead 60-43 with 5 minutes and 17 seconds to go in the game. Scott Rolen scored 24 points in the 4th quarter alone hitting 7 threes in the quarter, and finishing with 47 points total. Forest Park point guard, Bob Boehman hit 18 consecutive free throws in the 4th quarter, scoring a total of 31 points. Jasper cut the lead to 77-75 with 34 seconds remaining. Rolen hit another three to make it 81-80 with 12 seconds left. At this point, Jasper intentionally fouled. Boehman hit both free throws. Jasper fouled again on the inbounds and Boehman hit both again to make it 85-80.

Tom Beach's expectations going into the season were simple, he wantred to be one of the best basketball teams in Southern Indiana.  The Rangers anticipated a good season and had adopted a team song as "Taking Care of Business" by Bachman Turner Overdrive.  The Forest Park crowd would often chant "T-C-B!"

Tom said that this season's team was fun and they were very coachable.

We asked Tom what a typical practice day was like and he replied " The practices were competitive and everyone worked hard."

Player Interviews

We were also fortunate to talk with one of the players from the 1993 season, Bobby Boehman.

We asked Bobby Boehman, a starting point guard a few questions.

What was the most memorable game of the season and why? He said, " being at the Jasper games because there were so many people!"

We asked Bobby if there was ever a time that he thought they would lose the game and he replied " No! We were better prepared and we had the best players."

Bobby said the team had good chemistry, and all his teamates were really good friends even off the court.
