         These tips and strategies come from the book, Best Practice: Today's Standards for TEaching And Learning in America's Schools (Third Edition) by Steven Zemelman, Harvey Daniels, and Arthur Hyde.

    • "When chhildren grow up in print-rich homes, where literacy is a tool of day-to-day family life, where stories and words are treasured, where reading aloud is a bedtime ritual, good readers usually emerge." page 59
    • Read to your child and with your child.  If you (as a parent) are not able to, attempt to find another older sibling, friend, or relative to read to AND with your child.
    • Talk about what you read with your child.
